This article will show you how to enable the infrared (IR) LED on Blink cameras. The IR LED's light is undetectable to you; however, this light allows your camera to show clear images in low light or completely dark environments.
Note: Placing your camera on a deep ledge, or beside any reflective surface can result in glare that can impact image quality. Learn more about camera placement.
Accessing IR Controls
- View the camera settings screen by tapping the camera settings icon
located above the camera's thumbnail on the Blink app Home screen.
- On the Device Settings screen select Video and Photo.
- IR settings are controlled with NIGHT VISION and IR Intensity.
Night Vision Settings
Off - The IR LED never turns on and night images appear dark.
On - The IR LED is always on and all clips appear black and white.
Auto - The IR LED turns on when the visible light is low, such as at night.
IR Intensity Settings
Changing the intensity adjusts the brightness of the IR illumination.
This setting can be adjusted to Low, Medium, or High. These values allow you to remove glare or even which objects can be seen clearly in the dark.
