What is Blink Indoor and Outdoor? What do they do?

Blink Indoor and Outdoor cameras are the next generation of the Blink Indoor and XT2 cameras. Customers will receive many of the benefits of our XT2; wire-free, two-year battery life, IR night vision, 1080p HD video, advanced motion detection, and two-way audio. 

Both cameras are compatible with Blink’s enhanced storage options where customers can choose to save videos either in the cloud with the Blink subscription plan, or store videos for no monthly fee on the local storage in the Sync Module 2, by plugging in a USB flash drive (sold separately) for added privacy.

What is the difference between Blink Indoor and Outdoor?

Blink Indoor can be placed anywhere in your home. Blink Outdoor can also be placed outdoors with its weather resistant IP65 rating. Additionally, Blink Indoor and Outdoor are compatible with a new battery expansion pack that doubles operating life. (sold separately)

What is new about Blink Indoor and Outdoor cameras compared to the XT2 and the Blink Indoor Camera?

Blink Indoor and Outdoor cameras feature Privacy Zones and additional storage options to save your motion clips locally on a USB flash drive (sold separately) or to the cloud with advanced features.

How does local storage work?

As an alternative to the subscription-based cloud storage, customers can enable local storage with no monthly fee to save videos from up to 10 cameras to the storage hub included with Blink Indoor and Outdoor systems by inserting a USB flash drive (sold separately).

What do Blink Indoor and Outdoor cameras integrate with?

Blink Indoor and Outdoor cameras integrate with all Alexa-enabled products including Echo, Echo Dot, Echo Show, Echo Spot, Fire TV, and Fire Tablet. Skills include arming and disarming, activating a live stream, playing the latest motion clip, and when available, will include sound detection via Alexa Guard to trigger camera recording, and motion announcements right from your Alexa-enabled device. 

Blink Indoor and Outdoor cameras will not support Apple HomeKit or Google Assistant at launch but we are continuously evaluating integration opportunities.

Do Blink Indoor and Outdoor cameras require a hub?

Yes, Blink Indoor and Outdoor cameras operate as part of a system. The Sync Module, and Sync Module 2, manage systems with up to ten devices total.

Can I add Blink Indoor and Outdoor cameras to my existing Blink system?

Yes. Plus, if adding Blink Indoor and Outdoor cameras to an existing Blink system that has been activated on or before 4/15/20, you will be grandfathered into your current free cloud storage model in the Blink app. Systems activated after 4/15/20 will receive motion alerts and be able to enter Live View for free, with the option to access video recordings in the Blink app through a cloud storage subscription. Local Storage options are available with the Sync Module 2 and a removable USB storage drive.
