Adding the Blink Video Doorbell to your system

Scan the QR code of your new Doorbell

1. From the Home screen of the Blink app, tap the blue "Plus" sign + in the upper right corner of the screen to add your new doorbell.

2. In the Add Device screen that opens, tap Blink video doorbell.

If it is the first time you are using the Blink app, a popup (image below) asks for permission to use the camera to scan the QR code on the back of your doorbell. This is just a convenient  way to enter the device serial number (DSN).

Tap OK to safely permit camera access, or tap Don't Allow and then enter the DSN manually.

The QR code and DSN are printed on a label inside the battery compartment.

3. If your doorbell is not open, insert the provided key and lift to separate the back plate slightly then push the doorbell toward the top of the back plate to release.

The metal key comes taped to the paper mounting template included in your doorbell packaging.

Make sure the QR code on the doorbell is in your camera view and in focus. Tap the flashlight icon to add more light if needed.

A green square appears when your phone camera 'understands' the QR code and you proceed to the next step.

Choose a system or create one

If you have already set up a Sync Module to use with the doorbell, choose that system, or create a new system for the doorbell to manage by itself.

Note: The Mini can act as a plug-in chime when it is on a system with a Blink Video Doorbell.

Sync Module Install

If a Sync Module is not detected, you are asked if you would like to install one now.

It is easiest to choose "Add without a Sync Module" and continue installing the doorbell, then add the Sync Module after.

If you choose to "Add a Sync Module", the doorbell serial number is forgotten, and QR code scanner opens for you to set up a Sync Module. When the Sync Module setup is complete, you end up at the home screen. To add your doorbell to the Sync Module system, tap the blue "Plus" sign + again to scan its QR code.

Power-up and Connect to the Doorbell's Wi-Fi

Your doorbell has either a back cover weather seal, or a battery cover weather seal. The Blink app guides you to insert the batteries for your product.

Connect the app to your doorbell's "BLINK" network
When your doorbell is discovered, a popup asks if you want to connect the Blink app to the doorbell directly. This connection configures your system. You can safely tap Join.

Connect the doorbell to your Wi-Fi network

The available 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks in range of the doorbell are displayed. Select yours.

If you do not see your Wi-Fi network in the list, tap Refresh List to scan the area again. Be sure your Wi-Fi router is transmitting at 2.4 GHz.

Enter your Wi-Fi password and press "Continue". To be sure you enter the password correctly, tap the "eye" icon to view the characters.

When complete, you are shown a success screen. Tap "Continue" to go to the Home screen.
