Blink Solaris FAQ

Blink Solaris combines a solar panel and rechargeable battery pack into one unit, compatible with the Blink Outdoor 2K+ and Outdoor 4. You can place it in locations with sunlight to keep your camera running and monitor battery levels and charging status from the Blink app.

Blink Solaris is compatible with the Blink Outdoor 2K+ and Outdoor 4.

Does the solar mount replace my camera's batteries?

Yes. Blink Solaris has a built-in rechargeable battery pack that powers your camera. If installed, remove the AA batteries from your Blink Outdoor 2K+ or Outdoor 4 camera and use Blink Solaris as the power source instead.

Setup and configuration

Do I need to purchase any additional hardware to install Solaris?

No additional hardware is required to install Blink Solaris. It attaches directly to your Outdoor 2K+ or Outdoor 4 camera. Once connected, use the mounting kit that came with your camera to mount the camera to a wall.

Blink Solaris is weather-resistant and IP65-rated for outdoor use when connected to your camera. Once attached to your Blink Outdoor 2K+ or Outdoor 4 camera, mount it anywhere it can receive direct sunlight. We recommend mounting it up to 10 ft (3 m) high.

Features and functionality

Blink Solaris has a built-in rechargeable battery and a solar panel that charges the battery. When connected to your Outdoor 2K+ or Outdoor 4 camera, Blink Solaris provides power to the camera, helping reduce the need to replace batteries.

What happens if the battery runs out of power?

Under normal conditions with adequate sunlight, the solar panel keeps your camera running. The rechargeable battery provides up to one month of power even when the camera isn’t charging.

Note : If the battery depletes due to extended periods with no sunlight, you'll receive advance warning. Your camera may temporarily go offline while recharging. If this happens, position the camera in direct sunlight and monitor it for at least 24 hours to allow sufficient recharging time.

No Blink plan is required to use Blink Solaris with your Outdoor 2K+ or Outdoor 4 camera.

Troubleshooting

If Blink Solaris doesn’t appear in the Blink app after setup, it may not be fully connected to the camera. Disconnect Blink Solaris from the camera and reattach it, ensuring it slides in completely, and the screw is tightened securely. If the camera doesn’t power on within 30 seconds, check the connection and try again.

Note : If the battery is low, place the camera in direct sunlight for at least 45 minutes to allow the solar panel to recharge.

You can check the battery level and charging status of your Blink Solaris at any time from the Blink app.

To view battery and charging status:

  1. Tap the ... icon located in the lower right of the camera thumbnail.
  2. Tap Device Settings .
  3. Tap General Settings .
  4. The battery percentage of Blink Solaris will appear under ‘Connected Accessory’. If the status displays ‘Charging’, Blink Solaris is charging your camera. If no charging status is listed, Blink Solaris is not charging your camera.

Note: If Blink Solaris isn’t charging or is showing no power, ensure it’s attached to your Blink Outdoor 2K+ or Outdoor 4 camera and place it in direct sunlight for 45 minutes, then try again. If your camera is new and hasn't been added to your account yet, it should blink red, indicating it has sufficient power.

If your camera isn’t charging, Blink Solaris may not be receiving enough direct sunlight. Blink Solaris requires at least 45 minutes of direct sunlight daily for optimal performance. Ensure Blink Solaris gets direct sunlight and remove any debris, leaves or snow blocking the panel.

To remove Blink Solaris from your camera:

  1. Remove the back cover from your camera.
  2. Loosen the screw in the middle of Blink Solaris to release it from the camera.
  3. Slide the camera out of Blink Solaris.
  4. Insert the AA batteries into the camera, then reattach the back cover.

Note: Once disconnected from Blink Solaris, your camera will temporarily go offline until you reinsert batteries into the camera.
