How to Install Your Blink Wired Floodlight Camera Mount

Important: If you have already installed your Blink Wired Floodlight Camera Mount, please refer to the set-up guide to continue.

The Blink Wired Floodlight Camera Mount is designed to replace an existing outdoor light fitting. Before beginning installation, review the following requirements:

  • The mount must be connected to a 4-inch round, weatherproof, UL-listed electrical junction box (US) or a hard-wired electrical connection (EU).
  • Installation requires turning off the power at the consumer unit. If you are not comfortable working with electrical wiring, please contact a qualified electrician.
  • If you don't already have the Blink App, download it and then create a Blink account or sign in.
  • Have a screwdriver ready:
    • US: Phillips-head screwdriver
    • EU: Phillips-head and flat-head screwdriver (the flat-head is used to secure the mounting bracket to the junction box)

Getting started

Note: Start by downloading the Blink App and create an account or sign in to your Blink account.
  1. From the home screen, tap the + (plus) icon in the upper-right corner.
  2. Select Wired Floodlight Camera Mount from the list of available devices.
  3. When asked if your Wired Floodlight Camera Mount is installed, tap No, I need to install it.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions until the app prompts you to begin the wiring process (see Wiring Installation below).

US wiring instructions

What you'll need (US)

  • Screws (bags A–J)
  • Mounting bracket
  • Mounting plate
  • Blink Wired Floodlight Camera Mount
  • Wire connectors (included in bag "H")
WARNING: Risk of electric shock: Always turn off the power at the consumer unit or circuit breaker before handling any wiring. Failure to do so may result in electric shock or serious injury. If you are not comfortable with this process, please consult a qualified electrician.

Step 1: Turn off the power at the consumer unit before proceeding
This is essential for your safety and the protection of your new Blink product. If you are unsure which circuit breaker to turn off, switch off the main supply to your home or contact a qualified electrician. When you are ready to proceed, tap Power is Off

Step 2: Prepare for installation
Unbox the contents of your package: screws, metal mounting bracket, nylon strap and Blink Wired Floodlight Camera Mount. If your package includes a camera, unbox it as well. Tap Continue

Step 3: Remove your existing floodlight and mounting bracket
If you are not replacing an existing floodlight, tap I'm not replacing a floodlight to skip this section. 

For optimal motion detection, the Blink Wired Floodlight Camera Mount should be installed 2.75 metres (9 feet) above the ground. Remove the mounting bracket of your existing floodlight. Uninstall it according to the manufacturer's instructions. Be sure to remove all wires, wire connectors, screws and mounting hardware from the old fitting. Tap Continue

Note: This device is designed to replace an existing floodlight and therefore must be installed in a 4-inch round, weatherproof, UL-listed junction box. If you do not have one, please contact a qualified electrician. Tap Exit Setup to return to the home screen. 

Step 4: Inspect the wires in your junction box
You should see: a black wire (live), a white wire (neutral) and a bare metal or green wire (earth). Once confirmed, tap Continue

Electric shock warning: If you cannot identify your wires, tap My wires look different. If these wires are not present, if you have difficulty identifying or connecting them, or if you feel unsure or uncomfortable, please consult a qualified electrician to complete the installation. If you are ready to proceed, tap I've identified the wires. Otherwise, tap Exit for now to return to the home screen.

Step 5: Install the new mounting bracket

  1. Using a hand screwdriver, install the supplied mounting bracket with the side labelled "Front" facing towards you. 
  2. Screw it in over two opposing holes on your junction box. 
  3. Ensure the mounting bracket is securely fastened to the junction box before moving on to the next step. Tap Continue

    Screw selection guide

  • Bag A: Standard screws suitable for most metal junction boxes.
  • Bags B and C: Longer screws for recessed metal junction boxes.
  • Bags D, E and F: Best suited for plastic junction boxes with smaller screw holes.

Step 6: Install the new mounting plate

  1. Using the wing nut from bag "G", secure the mounting plate to the mounting bracket.
  2. Position the bracket so the "UP" arrow faces upwards (for wall mounting) or towards the area of interest (for ceiling mounting). Tap Continue

Step 7: Hang your Blink Wired Floodlight Camera Mount

  1. Locate the nylon strap on the back of the Blink Wired Floodlight Camera Mount.
  2. Hook the buckle at the end over the hook on the mounting plate.
  3. Ensure the buckle and hook are secure before releasing the Blink Wired Floodlight Camera Mount. Tap Continue

Step 8: Connect the wires from your junction box
With the power still off at the consumer unit:

  1. Use a wire connector from bag "H" to connect the earth wire from the junction box to the green earth wire on the Blink Wired Floodlight Camera Mount.
  2. Use another wire connector from bag "H" to connect the neutral wire from the junction box to the white neutral wire on the Blink Wired Floodlight Camera Mount.
  3. Use another wire connector from bag "H" to connect the live wire from the junction box to the black live wire on the Blink Wired Floodlight Camera Mount.
  4. Gently tug on all three wires to ensure they are secure. Tap Continue

Step 9: Secure your Blink Wired Floodlight Camera Mount

  1. Align the centre hole with the threaded stud on the mounting bracket and slide the fitting onto the stud.
  2. Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to install the threaded nut "I" onto the stud.
  3. Insert the silicone plug "J" into the screw hole.
  4. Use appropriate outdoor silicone sealant (not included) to seal the area between the fitting base and the wall. Tap Continue.

Step 10: Turn the power back on at the consumer unit
It may take a moment for your Blink Wired Floodlight Camera Mount to power on. It will be ready when the green light is on and the blue light is slowly flashing. Tap I've turned the power on

You are now ready to pair a compatible camera or install a new one

EU wiring instructions

What you'll need (EU)

  • Screws (bags A–D)
  • Mounting bracket
  • Nylon strap
  • Blink Wired Floodlight Camera Mount
  • Flat-head screwdriver (for terminal block connections)
WARNING: Risk of electric shock: Always turn off the power at the consumer unit or circuit breaker before handling any wiring. Failure to do so may result in electric shock or serious injury. These instructions are provided for informational purposes only. Working with electricity can be dangerous if proper safety precautions are not taken. If you are not comfortable or experienced with the procedures and tools described in this guide, please consult a qualified electrician. Professional installation is recommended. 

Step 1: Turn off the power at the consumer unit before proceeding
This is essential for your safety and the protection of your new Blink product. If you are unsure which circuit breaker to turn off, switch off the main supply to your home or contact a qualified electrician. When you are ready to proceed, tap Power is Off.

Step 2: Prepare for installation
Unbox the contents of your package: screws, mounting bracket and Blink Wired Floodlight Camera Mount. If your package includes a camera, unbox it as well. Tap Continue.

Step 3: Remove your existing floodlight and mounting bracket 
Uninstall it according to the manufacturer's instructions. Be sure to remove all wires, screws and mounting hardware from the old fitting. Tap Continue.

Note: If you are not replacing an existing floodlight, this device requires a hard-wired electrical connection. If you do not have one at your installation location, please contact a qualified electrician.

Step 4: Inspect the wires in your junction box

You should see: a brown wire (live), a blue wire (neutral) and a yellow/green wire (earth). Once confirmed, tap Continue.

⚠ Electrical safety warning – Risk of electric shock and injury
If your junction box does not contain a brown wire, a blue wire and a yellow/green wire, a qualified electrician must complete this installation. If you cannot easily identify the wires coming from your electrical box, have difficulty or feel uncomfortable connecting them, please consult a qualified electrician.

Step 5: Install the mounting bracket

  1. Feed the electrical cables from your home through the cable entry hole in the mounting bracket.
  2. Position the bracket so the "UP" arrow faces upwards (for wall mounting) or towards the area of interest (for ceiling mounting).
  3. Secure the bracket to the wall using the screws and wall plugs provided in bags "A" and "B".
  4. Insert the screw caps from bag "C" before moving on to the next step. Tap Continue.

Step 6: Connect the wires from your junction box to the mounting bracket
With the power still off at the consumer unit:

  1. Loosen the clamping plate.
  2. Insert each wire into the corresponding terminal and tug individually to ensure they are secure.
  3. Tighten the clamping plate over the cable sheath. Tap Continue.
Electric shock warning: The clamping plate must be tightened over the cable sheath, not over the individual conductors.

Step 7: Hang your Blink Wired Floodlight Camera Mount

  1. Locate the nylon strap on the back of the Blink Wired Floodlight Camera Mount.
  2. Hook the buckle at the end over the hook on the mounting plate.
  3. Ensure the buckle and hook are secure before releasing the Blink Wired Floodlight Camera Mount. Tap Continue.

Step 8: Connect the wires on your Blink Wired Floodlight Camera Mount

With the power still off at the consumer unit:

  1. Push the earth wire (yellow/green) into the centre terminal at the top of the terminal block and tighten with a flat-head screwdriver.
  2. Push the live wire (brown) into the terminal at the top of the terminal block marked "L" and tighten with a flat-head screwdriver.
  3. Push the neutral wire (blue) into the terminal marked "N" and tighten with a flat-head screwdriver.
  4. Tug on each wire individually to ensure they are secure. Tap Continue.

Step 9: Secure your Blink Wired Floodlight Camera Mount

  1. Route the fitting wires along the right side of the mounting plate.
  2. Slide the camera onto the mounting bracket without forcing. Check that the wires are not pinched.
  3. Align the centre hole with the threaded stud on the mounting bracket and slide the fitting onto the stud.
  4. Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to install the threaded nut "C" onto the stud.
  5. Insert the silicone plug "D" into the screw hole.
  6. Use appropriate outdoor silicone sealant (not included) to seal the area between the fitting base and the wall. Tap Continue.

Step 10: Turn the power back on at the consumer unit
It may take a moment for your Blink Wired Floodlight Camera Mount to power on. It will be ready when the green light is on and the blue light is slowly flashing. Tap I've turned the power on

You are now ready to pair a compatible device or install a new one

Ceiling installation

If you are performing a ceiling installation, these steps replace the standard mounting procedure described above. Tap Install on ceiling and follow these steps:

  1. Secure the bracket to the ceiling: 
  2. Align your compatible camera or Blink Arc mount with the Blink Wired Floodlight Camera Mount and press firmly until it clicks into place. Tap Continue.
  3. Adjust the floodlight heads and camera to the desired position. Tap Done to return to the home screen.
