Your Clip List just got a major upgrade. Here's everything that's new and how it works.
Clips and Blink Moments are now bigger and play automatically as you scroll. The redesigned Clip List features larger clip previews so you can tell what happened without tapping in.
- Auto-Playback: Clips play automatically on the main Clip List screen when you land on it. You can manage this behavior in Clip List Options under Autoplay Video Previews.
- Favorites: Single clips and Moments now feature a Star icon in the top-right corner of the thumbnail. Tap the Star to favorite a clip for quick access later.

Blink Moments
Now you can view even more activity in Blink Moments. Swipe through clips to catch every detail.
Blink Moments is a subscription feature that automatically combines motion events recorded within a short timeframe across all cameras into a single clip, making it easy to view an entire moment in time. Whether it's your kids playing in the yard, guests arriving for a family gathering, or pets exploring the backyard, Moments seamlessly combines footage from one or multiple cameras into a complete video, saving you from manually sorting through individual clips.
Moments are generated automatically when:
- You have an active Blink plan or trial.
- Two or more motion clips or saved Live Views are recorded from cameras on the same system within 45 seconds of the start time of the last recorded clip.
On the Clip List, Moments appear as a card with multiple thumbnail images and a time frame showing the start of the first clip to the start of the last clip. Within a Moment on the Clip List, each clip will auto-play after the previous clip finishes. You can also manually swipe through them to move at your own pace.
Turning Blink Moments on or off
The Blink Moments feature is on by default and can be toggled on or off from Clip List Options. When turned off, previously generated Moments will appear as individual clips in the Clip List. If Blink Moments is turned back on, clips that met the criteria during the off period will be grouped into Moments again.
Note: Blink Moments is available when you have an active Blink plan or trial and are using version 32.0 or higher of the Blink app.
Blink Moments details
Tap and hold on any Moment to open the Moment Details screen. From here you can play the full Moment as continuous a playback, save individual clips, delete clips, and share clips.
The bar at the bottom of the video player lets you navigate through clips within the current Moment. Each notch marks the start of a new clip, and you can move the slider to jump directly to any clip. Double-tap the right side to skip to the next clip, or double-tap the left side to go back. To navigate to the next or previous Moment or clip in the Clip List, tap the next or previous arrows once.
- 2x speed: Press and hold anywhere on the Moment (iOS) or press and hold on the right side (Android) to view at 2x speed. A 2x speed badge will appear at the top center. Release to return to normal speed.
- Shape each Moment: You can remove unwanted clips in Moment Details to shape each Moment, your way. Use the per-clip controls to decide which clips should be included or removed from that Moment.
Quick Filters
At the top of the Clip List, you will find a redesigned Quick Filter bar that gives you one-tap access to the views that matter most to you.
| Quick Filter | Description |
|---|---|
| Focus | Shows only your most important clips by filtering out snapshots, very short clips (under 4 seconds), and unclassified motion. Refer to the "How Focus works" section below for full details. |
| Favorites | Shows only clips you've marked as favorites using the Star icon. |
| Known Faces* | Filters clips by recognized people. |
| Unusual Activity Alerts* | Highlights clips flagged as unusual activity, for example, unfamiliar faces or unexpected events. |
*Known Faces and Unusual Activity Alerts are only available with with a Blink plan that supports AI features.
Notes:
- If you are using Local Storage, you will continue to have the same Clip List experience as before. The Quick Filter bar is not displayed for Local Storage.
- The Focus filter can significantly reduce the number of clips shown in your Clip List. If you notice clips are missing, check if the Focus filter is on and tap it again to turn it off.
- When you select a filter, it stays active session to session until you manually unselect it.
How Focus works
Focus removes clips from view rather than picking which ones to show. Every clip stays in the list unless one of the rules below takes it out. Focus only hides rows on screen. It doesn't reload anything, so turning Focus off brings the list back exactly as it was.
Focus rules that apply to everyone:
- Short clips are hidden. Clips under 4 seconds are removed from view. The exception: A short clip that has a real video description will stay.
- Snapshots are always hidden.
Additional rule when Blink Video Descriptions are enabled:
- A clip is hidden unless it has at least one of the following:
- Person or Vehicle detection
- A Live View recording
- An Unusual Activity flag
- A named Known Face
- A real video description (the generic "Motion detected" text doesn't count)
In practice, a plain motion clip with nothing interesting attached gets hidden.
Important: Rule 3 only applies when an account has an ai plan with Blink Video Descriptions turned on.
Clip List Options
At the top-right of the Clip List, tap Settings
to open the Clip List Options menu, where you can manage:
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Video Descriptions | Toggle AI-generated clip descriptions on or off (Blink ai plan required). |
| Autoplay Video Previews | Control whether clips auto-play as you scroll. |
| Blink Moments | Enable or disable Moment grouping (Blink plan required). |
| Clips Auto-Delete | Set how long clips are stored before automatic deletion. |
Previously, these settings were in different places across the app. They are now all in one spot: Clip List Options.
To bulk-remove clips, at the top-right of the Clip List, tap the Pencil icon. You can then use the Edit Clip List mode to select and delete multiple clips at once.
FAQ
I'm missing clips in my Clip List. Where did they go?
If you notice fewer clips than expected, check the following:
- Focus filter: Focus hides short clips (under 4 seconds), snapshots, and, for accounts with Video Descriptions enabled, plain motion clips without meaningful detections. Tap the Focus button to turn it off and display all of your clips. Note: filters persist session to session, so Focus may still be active from a previous session.
- Blink Moments: Some clips may be grouped inside a Moment card. Tap the Moment card to expand it and view all the clips inside. You can also open Moment Details to view every clip included in that Moment.
A filter I used before is missing. Why?
Filter buttons are shown based on your subscription plan. AI-powered filters like Known Faces and Unusual Activity Alerts are only available with a Blink ai plan that supports AI features. If you don't have access to these features, the filter will not appear. This is by design, not a bug, and no app reset will bring them back.
Will the new Clip List design affect my current app or device settings?
No, your current settings and configurations remain unchanged. The new design updates the Clip List layout and introduces new features, but your existing device settings, camera configurations, and subscription plan are not affected.
I don't see the new Clip List design. What should I do?
Make sure you're using the latest version of the Blink app. We're in the process of a gradual rollout, so you might not see the change immediately. The updated design will be coming to all accounts soon.
Can I revert back to the previous Clip List design?
As we gradually roll out the improved Clip List, all accounts will be updated. Once your account has made this transition, the previous design will no longer be available.
What is Focus and how does it work?
Focus is a one-tap filter that removes noise from your Clip List. For all customers, it hides snapshots and clips under 4 seconds (unless the short clip has a real video description). For customers with Blink Video Descriptions turned on, Focus also hides plain motion clips that don't have a person/vehicle detection, Live View recording, Unusual Activity flag, Known Face, or real video description.
Focus only hides rows on screen. Turning it off brings the full list back instantly. Like all filters, Focus persists session to session until you manually turn it off.
DeleteWhy does Focus behave differently depending on my plan?
Focus adapts based on whether your account has an ai plan with Blink Video Descriptions turned on. If you're on a non-ai plan or have descriptions turned off, Focus only hides snapshots and very short clips. If you have Blink Video Descriptions on, Focus also filters out plain motion clips without meaningful detections. This prevents Focus from hiding nearly every clip for customers who don't have AI features active.
DeleteHow do I customize what's inside a Blink Moment?
Tap and hold on any Moment to open Moment Details. From there, you can remove individual clips you don't want included. This lets you shape each Moment to only show the clips that matter to you. If you change your mind, you can always add a clip back.
DeleteWhere did my storage and auto-delete settings go?
These settings moved to Clip List Options. Tap Settings
at the top of the Clip List to find Video Descriptions, Autoplay Video Previews, Blink Moments, and Clips Auto-Delete all in one place.
