Dependent device Sync Module error message

When attempting to add a camera that requires a Sync Module before one has been set up, the following error message may appear: “You don’t have a Sync Module. This is a dependent device." This message indicates that the camera requires a Sync Module, but one has not yet been added to your account.

All cameras are compatible with Sync Modules. However, some cameras require a Sync Module before they can be added:

  • Outdoor 4
  • Outdoor and Indoor (3rd Gen)
  • XT2
  • XT
  • Indoor (1st Gen)

To complete setup for cameras requiring a Sync Module, add a Sync Module to your account first.

Adding a Sync Module

  1. From the Device Setup screen, tap Add a Sync Module.
  2. Scan the QR code on the back of your Sync Module, or tap Enter Serial Manually. Once the serial number is recognized, select an available system to add your Sync Module. If no systems are available or if none exist, create a new one with a unique name, then tap Continue. Learn more about creating and managing systems.
  3. Once the Sync Module has been added to your system, you can now add the camera.
