Using Smart Detection Features

Smart Detection is a Blink Subscription Plan feature that uses computer vision to distinguish motion caused by a person or vehicle, making it easier to review relevant activity and reduce unwanted motion events.

Note: Smart Detection is not supported by Blink Indoor (1st Gen), XT, XT2, Indoor/Outdoor (3rd Gen), and Mini (1st Gen) cameras, or Video Doorbell (1st Gen).

Vehicle Detection

When turned on, you’ll receive a “Vehicle detected at [Camera Name]” notification, and a “Vehicle” event type icon will be automatically added to the clip list. This allows you to filter clips by the “Vehicle” event type.

Person Detection

When turned on, you’ll receive a “There is a person at your [Camera Name]” notification, and a “Person” event type icon will be automatically added to the clip list.

Learn how to filter and view motion clips in the Blink app.

Note: In the redesigned Clip List, the Focus filter uses Person and Vehicle detection as some of the factors to determine which clips stay visible. This means clips without a Person or Vehicle detection may be hidden when you activate the Focus filter. If you turn off Smart Detection, the Focus filter may hide more of your clips.

Turning Smart Detection features on/off

Smart detection features are enabled by default and can be toggled on or off in Device Settings.
