Mini Pan-Tilt 2K+ FAQ

Blink Mini Pan-Tilt 2K+

The Blink Mini Pan-Tilt 2K+ is a plug-in indoor/outdoor camera that pans and tilts to cover your entire space. It features 2K video, auto-tracking, colour night vision, two-way audio, and a built-in siren.

Getting started

No. The Mini Pan-Tilt 2K+ is an all-in-one camera with a built-in 2K sensor and motorised pan-tilt. Unlike the Pan-Tilt Mount accessory (which works exclusively with Blink Mini 1st Gen), the Mini Pan-Tilt 2K+ does not use or connect to an existing Blink Mini, Mini 2, or Mini 2K+. The camera and pan-tilt motor are integrated into a single device.

Can the Mini Pan-Tilt 2K+ be used indoors and outdoors?

Yes, the Mini Pan-Tilt 2K+ can be used indoors or outdoors. Outdoor use requires a Weather Resistant Power Adaptor, which is included in the outdoor bundle or available to purchase separately. The indoor Mini Pan-Tilt 2K+ includes a standard USB-C cable (2 m) for indoor use only.

What is calibration and when does it occur?

Calibration is an automatic process the Mini Pan-Tilt 2K+ performs to map its full range of motion and ensure accurate pan/tilt positioning. Calibration occurs during initial setup, after a power loss, or when manually triggered from the Blink app. During calibration, the camera will rotate through its full range. Make sure the area around the camera is clear of obstructions.

Camera features

Does the Mini Pan-Tilt 2K+ have Night Vision?

Yes, the Mini Pan-Tilt 2K+ features Night Vision with a built-in LED spotlight. Stay in colour longer in low light, and automatically switch to crisp black and white in total darkness. The spotlight can be set to activate automatically when motion is detected or controlled manually from the Blink app.

You can adjust the motion detection range of your Mini Pan-Tilt 2K+ using the Motion sensitivity slider in the Blink app. Lowering the motion sensitivity decreases the detection range, which helps reduce false alerts. If your camera is not detecting motion events, try increasing the motion sensitivity.

Motion sensitivity settings are:

  • Off: Motion detection is disabled.
  • Low: Detects motion at a shorter range.
  • Medium: The default, balanced detection range suitable for most environments.
  • High: Detects motion at the maximum range (up to 14 m / 46 ft).

To adjust sensitivity:

  1. In the Blink app, tap More (...) on your camera thumbnail.
  2. Tap Device Settings > Motion Settings.
  3. Use the Motion sensitivity slider to select Off, Low, Medium, or High.

What is dynamic resolution?

Dynamic resolution automatically adjusts the streaming quality based on your network bandwidth to maintain a smooth, uninterrupted live view experience. When bandwidth is limited, the camera may temporarily reduce resolution to prevent buffering or dropped connections.

Delete

What is pre-roll?

Pre-roll captures a few seconds of video before a motion event is triggered, so you can see what happened leading up to the alert.

What types of motion can the Mini Pan-Tilt 2K+ detect?

The Mini Pan-Tilt 2K+ uses computer vision (CV) based motion detection that can classify people and vehicles with a Blink subscription plan.

You can also configure motion detection settings and set up Activity Zones in the Blink app to customise which types of motion trigger alerts. Learn more about Activity Zones.

Pan-tilt & auto-tracking

How far can the Mini Pan-Tilt 2K+ pan and tilt?

The Mini Pan-Tilt 2K+ can pan 350 degrees (left and right) and tilt 115 degrees (up and down), providing 360-degree environmental coverage of your space. You can control movements from the Live View screen in the Blink app or let auto-tracking follow detected motion automatically.

Delete

What is auto-tracking?

Auto-tracking is a feature that allows the Mini Pan-Tilt 2K+ to automatically follow detected motion within its field of view. When enabled, the camera will pan and tilt to keep a moving person or vehicle in frame. You can enable or disable auto-tracking from the camera settings in the Blink app.

What is the Default Position (Home) for the Mini Pan-Tilt 2K+?

The Default Position (also called "Home") is the resting position your camera returns to after completing an auto-tracking event or when you tap the Home button in Live View. You can customise the Default Position at any time from the Live View controls in the Blink app by moving the camera to your preferred angle and saving it.

Can I physically move the camera by hand instead of using the app controls?

No, it is not recommended to physically rotate or tilt the camera by hand. Manually forcing the mount may damage internal motor components and affect the accuracy of pan/tilt movements. Always use the in-app controls to adjust the camera's position.
