Replacing Your Existing Sync Module with Sync Module XR

To replace your existing Sync Module with a Sync Module XR, you first need to delete the current Sync Module from your system.

To delete the current Sync Module:

  1. From the Home Screen, scroll to the bottom of the camera thumbnail list and tap the Sync Module status bar.
  2. Tap Delete Icon Delete Sync Module. When prompted to confirm, tap Delete Sync Module again.
    • Once deleted, your system and cameras will remain attached to your account. Cameras that require a Sync Module will temporarily go offline until the new Sync Module is added.
  3. Scan the QR code on the back of the Sync Module you are deleting, or tap Enter Serial Manually to enter the serial number, then tap Continue.
  4. Tap DELETE.

After deleting the Sync Module, a confirmation email will be sent to the email address associated with your Blink account.

Adding the Sync Module XR

To add the Sync Module XR:

  1. From the Home Screen, tap the + Icon located in the upper right corner.
    • Alternatively, tap the "No Sync Module" banner at the top of the Home Screen.
  2. From the Add Device screen, tap Sync Module.
  3. Scan the QR code located on the back of the Sync Module or manually enter the serial number.
  4. Select the name of the system that your previous Sync Module was connected to.
  5. Plug in your Sync Module and wait for the blinking blue and steady green LEDs. Tap Discover Device. If the LEDs do not display this pattern, you may need to reset the Sync Module.
  6. When prompted, connect to the Sync Module’s temporary Wi-Fi network ‘BLINK-xxxx,’ where ‘xxxx’ is the last four digits of your Sync Module’s serial number. Tap Join / Connect.
  7. Select your Wi-Fi network from the list and enter your Wi-Fi password. If your Wi-Fi network does not appear, tap Refresh List. Ensure the password is correct to avoid connection issues, then tap Join.
  8. Once your Sync Module has been successfully added, you will see the message "Sync Module XR added to [system name] system!" Tap Done.

After adding the Sync Module, an “Extended Range Available” banner will appear on the Home Screen if any Outdoor 4 cameras are connected. This indicates that your camera supports Extended Range. Tap the banner to set up Extended Range, or dismiss it to change your device’s network later under device settings. Learn more about Extended Range.
