Video Doorbell (2nd Gen): Installing a Corner or Wedge Mount

Corner Mount
Wedge Mount

Overview

The Video Doorbell's camera points straight out from the included mount. If the included mount doesn't provide the desired viewing angle, consider two alternative mounts (sold separately) that offer additional adjustment options:

  • Corner Mount: If you need to adjust the horizontal angle, the mount offers a 25° tilt to the left or right. Corner Mount is included with the Video Doorbell (2nd Gen) system.
  • Wedge Mount: If you need to adjust the vertical angle, the mount provides a 5° vertical tilt, allowing you to tilt the camera slightly up or down.

These mounting accessories can help you optimize the camera's field of view for your specific installation location. Choose the appropriate mount based on whether you need to adjust the vertical or horizontal angle of your doorbell camera.

Installing the Corner or Wedge Mount

To mount your Video Doorbell, follow these steps in the Blink app:

  1. Select mounting location.
To determine the optimal location for your Video Doorbell, from the Home Screen tap the Live View play button on your Video Doorbell thumbnail. Then, select a spot for the Video Doorbell approximately 46-48 inches (102-122 cm) above the ground. Once you've chosen the ideal position, mark it with a pencil.
  1. Prepare mounting holes.
After marking the position, align the provided template at the marked location and drill the necessary holes for mounting.

  2. Install the mount.
Once the holes are drilled, secure the mount to the wall using the provided long screws and anchors. If you'll be wiring your doorbell, thread the existing doorbell wires through the mount's center opening before fully tightening the screws.

  3. Attach the back plate.
Attach the back plate to the mount using the provided short screws. For wired installations, connect the doorbell wires to the appropriate terminals.

  4. Attach the doorbell.
Finally, complete the installation by firmly snapping the doorbell onto the back plate until it clicks into place.

  5. Verify the installation.
Once the doorbell is installed, test its functionality by pressing the doorbell button and ensuring it operates correctly. Then, open the Blink app to check the camera view and make any necessary adjustments. If desired, fine-tune your doorbell's settings by configuring the Activity and Privacy Zones within the app to customize motion detection and recording areas.
