Android - Avoid poor Wi-Fi connections

If you have been directed to this article during setup, then your Android device has a setting enabled that will prevent you from setting up Blink. Many Android devices have an advanced Wi-Fi setting designed to avoid poor Wi-Fi connections.  This setting may be called:

  • Auto Network Switch
  • Smart Network Switch
  • Avoid Poor Wi-Fi connections
  • Avoid Bad Wi-Fi connections
  • Adaptive Wi-Fi
  • Switch to mobile data
  • Xiaomi Wifi Assistant

On the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, S5 and S6, it's called Smart Network Switch. This feature automatically switches the device's Wi-Fi network to the best available signal connection if the device senses that the current connection has problems (like no Internet connection). This happens very quickly: as soon as the phone connects to the Blink-#### network, the OS switches the device back to a working Wi-Fi network. Blink setup is not possible while the feature is enabled. The Blink-#### network is only used for setup and does not provide an internet connection.
