How Long Do the Blink Camera Batteries Last?

Blink Video Doorbell, Outdoor and Indoor (3rd Gen), and XT2 cameras can expect battery life of up to 2 years, based on 5,882 seconds of Live View, 43,200 seconds of motion-activated recording and 4,788 seconds of Live View with two-way audio. This is roughly 70 seconds per day.

For the Indoor (1st Gen) and XT cameras, 2 years of typical use is defined as 40,000 seconds of Motion Clips and Live View. This is approximately 50 seconds per day.

Things that can really hurt battery life:

  • Slow internet connection speeds use batteries faster.
  • Extreme heat and cold can affect battery performance.
  • Weak signal strengths between Blink devices, and the Wi-Fi network, can increase battery consumption.

Note: Blink cameras are only compatible with size AA 1.5 volt Lithium non-rechargeable batteries.
DO NOT use Lithium-Ion (Li-Ion) batteries or rechargeable Lithium-Ion (Li-Ion) batteries with Blink devices.

You can monitor battery level in the Blink app, on the Camera Settings screen when you tap the settings icon settings icon in the camera thumbnail and select General Settings.

Battery strength indication is either OK or Needs Replacement.

As a warning, the Blink app will display a "High Usage" alert message when your camera settings are likely to cause higher than normal battery consumption.
