Power & installation requirements

Which power source does Wired Doorbell 2K+ require?

Wired Doorbell 2K+ operates exclusively on wired power (10–24V AC for US/CA/MX; 8–24V AC for EU/UK) through existing doorbell wiring. Unlike battery-powered doorbells, it has no battery backup and requires continuous, uninterrupted power to function.

Why won’t my existing in-home mechanical chime work with this doorbell?

Wired Doorbell 2K+ requires a bypass cable to be installed at your in-home mechanical chime, which redirects power directly to the doorbell. This means your existing mechanical chime will no longer function. You’ll receive notifications through the Blink app or compatible Alexa devices, or you can purchase a compatible digital chime, like the Blink Mini camera or Blink Chime (sold separately).

Why do I need to install a bypass cable?

The bypass cable must be installed at your in-home doorbell chime location to ensure consistent power delivery to your Wired Doorbell 2K+, allowing reliable, continuous performance.

Video & image quality

What is 2K video resolution?

Wired Doorbell 2K+ captures video at up to 1920x1920 pixels (2K resolution) at 24 frames per second (FPS), providing significantly clearer detail than standard 1080p doorbells. Combined with Local Tone Mapping (LTM) for improved dynamic range, you’ll see better detail in both bright and shadowed areas.

Wired Doorbell 2K+ automatically balances bright and dark areas in the same frame, so you can clearly see details in both shadows and highlights at the same time.

Which video resolution options are available?

Wired Doorbell 2K+ offers three quality settings:

  • Best: 1920x1920 pixels (~2K resolution) at 24 FPS - Default setting.
  • Standard: 1440x1440 pixels (~1080p) at 24 FPS.
  • Saver: 960x960 pixels (~720p) at 15 FPS.

Higher resolutions provide better video clarity. You can change this setting at any time in the Blink app under Device Settings, Video and Photo Quality.

What field of view does the camera provide?

Wired Doorbell 2K+ features a 140° horizontal x 140° vertical field of view with 173° diagonal coverage, angled 5 degrees downward to capture your doorstep and visitors clearly.

How far can the camera see at night?

The infrared Night Vision illuminates up to 33 feet (10 metres) from the doorbell, allowing clear visibility of visitors even in complete darkness using 850nm infrared wavelength.

Smart detection & notifications

With an active Blink plan (sold separately), Blink Wired Doorbell 2K+ can detect specific types of motion including Person Detection and Vehicle Detection and send you a notification for each type.

Can I customise which areas trigger motion alerts? 

Yes. You can set up Activity Zones using a grid to focus on specific areas. You can also set up Privacy Zones to block areas from being recorded entirely.

Does Motion Detection work at night?

Yes. Motion Detection works in any lighting condition: daytime, dusk, nighttime and dawn. Motion detection may be impacted at nighttime when infrared (IR) mode is off.

What is Pre-Roll Video?

Note: This feature is only available on wired devices with a Blink plan.

Pre-Roll Video captures a few seconds of footage before motion is detected, adding it to the beginning of your recorded clip so you can see what triggered the event.

Which audio features does this doorbell offer?

Wired Doorbell 2K+ features:

  • Digital Microphone: Captures clearer audio than analogue microphones.
  • Noise Suppression: Advanced DSP (Digital Signal Processing) reduces background noise, making conversations clearer even in windy or noisy environments.
  • Echo Cancellation: Eliminates feedback during two-way conversations.
  • 75 dB Speaker: Clear audio output at 3.2 feet (1 metre) distance.

These improvements ensure you can communicate clearly with visitors even in challenging outdoor conditions.

How do I use two-way audio during Live View?

To use two-way audio during Live View:

  1. Select Tap to Unmute.
  2. Speak into your mobile device.
  3. Select Tap to Mute when finished.

Live View sessions time out after approximately 5 minutes. To restart, return to the Home screen and tap Play.

Which Wi-Fi requirements does the doorbell need?

You will need:

Network specifications:

  • 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network (802.11 b/g/n).
  • High-speed internet with minimum upload speed for each resolution:
    • 6 Mbps for Best - 1920x1920 pixels (24 FPS).
    • 3 Mbps for Standard - 1440x1440 pixels (24 FPS).
    • 2 Mbps for Saver - 960x960 pixels (15 FPS).

Security protocols: WPA2, or WPA3 (recommended).

For best results, minimise the distance and obstructions between the router and doorbell to ensure strong signal strength.

How far from my router should I install the Wired Doorbell 2K+?

For outdoor installation, the doorbell supports a range of up to 65 feet (20 metres) through one interior wall and one exterior brick wall from your Wi-Fi access point.

Which subscription options are available?

Wired Doorbell 2K+ includes a Blink plus plan trial at no cost. Afterwards, choose between basic or plus plans for Cloud Storage and premium features. The trial isn’t available for existing plus plan subscribers, who already receive coverage for their doorbell.

What’s included in the no-cost trial?

The no-cost trial includes the following for all Blink devices on your account:

  • Cloud Storage for unlimited video clips
  • Person Detection
  • Vehicle Detection
  • Photo Capture
  • Extended Clip Storage (60 days in the US/CA; 30 days in the EU/UK)
  • Blink Video Descriptions* (US only)

*Blink Video Descriptions is available in the US only with a basic ai, plus ai or no-cost trial.

If you’re already a plus plan subscriber, you’ll receive automatic coverage rather than a trial.

Which video storage options are supported?

Cloud Storage: With a Blink plus plan, enjoy up to 60-day Cloud Storage for unlimited video clips (30 days in EU/UK) for all Blink devices on your account.

Local Storage: Available when Video Doorbell is connected to a Sync Module 2 (using USB drive) or Sync Module XR (using MicroSD card).

Compatibility & integration

Is a Sync Module required?

No. Wired Doorbell 2K+ connects directly to your Wi-Fi network and doesn’t require or support a Sync Module. However, all Sync Modules are compatible with this device if you choose to use one.

Which surfaces can I mount the Wired Doorbell 2K+ on?

Wired Doorbell 2K+ is mountable on common surfaces including wood, brick, concrete and render with the included back plate.

What if the standard mount doesn’t provide the right angle?

If the included standard wall plate mount doesn’t provide the desired viewing angle, consider installing a Corner or Wedge Mount.

  • Wedge Mount: Angles the doorbell up or down for optimal viewing.
  • Corner Mount: Positions the doorbell at an angle for corner installations.

All mounts are sold separately and are available in Black and Glacier White colours to match your doorbell.

How do I remove the Wired Doorbell 2K+ from the wall plate?

Wired Doorbell 2K+ can be released from the wall plate by using the provided doorbell removal tool or a common flat-head screwdriver. The release mechanism is located on the bottom of the doorbell.

Is the Wired Doorbell 2K+ weather resistant?

Yes. Wired Doorbell 2K+ has an IP65 rating for protection against rain, dust, cold and heat within normal temperature ranges.

Troubleshooting & support

How do I reset the Wired Doorbell 2K+?

Wired Doorbell 2K+ includes a physical reset button located on the back of the device. A short press will power cycle the device, while a long press will revert it to factory firmware.

What if I need to factory reset?

You can factory reset the Wired Doorbell 2K+ through the Blink app or by using the physical reset button on the back of the device. A factory reset will restore the device to its original factory settings and remove all stored content.

How do I delete my Wired Doorbell 2K+ from my list of devices?

To delete your Wired Doorbell 2K+ in the Blink app:

  1. In the Home Screen, tap the More (...) button on your Wired Doorbell 2K+ thumbnail.
  2. Tap Device Settings.
  3. Tap General Settings. 
  4. Confirm deletion by tapping Delete Device.

You’ll receive an email confirmation once the device has been deleted. To reconnect, add the doorbell back to your Blink account.

How can I troubleshoot connection issues?

If you experience connection problems during setup:

  1. Check that your doorbell is receiving power (lights on).
  2. Check that all wire connections are secured.
  3. Ensure the doorbell is properly seated on the back plate.
  4. Try the setup process again in the Blink app.
