Blink Wired Doorbell 2K+ Wi-Fi Troubleshooting

Some customers may experience a connection failure during initial setup if their Wi-Fi network name (SSID) or password contains a space or special characters. If your Blink Wired Doorbell 2K+ is not connecting to your Wi-Fi network during onboarding, follow the troubleshooting steps below.

How do I know if this applies to me?

This issue may affect you if:

  • Your Wi-Fi network name contains a space or special characters (for example, "My Home-Network").
  • Your Wi-Fi password contains a space or special characters (for example, "my, password").
  • Your Blink Wired Doorbell 2K+ fails to connect during the Wi-Fi setup step in the Blink app.

How to resolve this issue

Try the following options in order. We recommend starting with Option 1, as it is the simplest path to getting your doorbell online.

Once your Blink Wired Doorbell 2K+ is connected to any Wi-Fi network, it will automatically download a firmware update that resolves this issue.

  1. Connect your doorbell to a Wi-Fi network that does not have a space in the network name or password.
Note: Your router may have a guest network available that does not contain spaces or special characters in its name or password. Check your router's settings or the label on your router to see if a guest network is already enabled.
  2. Allow the doorbell to complete its firmware update. This may take a few minutes.
  3. Once the update is complete, delete the doorbell from your Blink app.
  4. Go to the Add Device flow to reconnect the doorbell and connect it to your preferred home Wi-Fi network.

Your Blink Wired Doorbell 2K+ should now connect successfully, even if your network name or password contains a space.

Option 2: Connect using a mobile hotspot

If you have access to a second mobile device, you can use it to create a temporary Wi-Fi hotspot for setup.

  1. On a second mobile device, turn on the mobile hotspot feature.
  2. Set the hotspot name and password to something without spaces or special characters (for example, "TempNetwork" / "[PASSWORD]").
  3. On your primary mobile device, open the Blink app and begin doorbell setup through the Add Device menu.
  4. When prompted to select a Wi-Fi network, connect the doorbell to the hotspot you created.
  5. Once the Blink Wired Doorbell 2K+ is online, it will automatically download a firmware update.
  6. After the update completes, delete the Blink Wired Doorbell 2K+ from your Blink app.
  7. Go to the Add Device flow to reconnect the Blink Wired Doorbell 2K+ and connect it to your preferred home Wi-Fi network.

Option 3: Remove the space from your Wi-Fi network name or password

Important: Changing your Wi-Fi network name or password will disconnect other devices on your network. You will need to reconnect them using the new credentials.

If you are comfortable changing your router settings, you can temporarily remove the space from your Wi-Fi network name or password.

  1. Log in to your Wi-Fi router's settings (refer to your router manufacturer's instructions).
  2. Change your network name (SSID) or password to remove any spaces.
  3. Open the Blink app and complete the Blink Wired Doorbell 2K+ setup using the updated Wi-Fi credentials.
  4. Once the doorbell is online, allow it to download the firmware update. After the update completes, delete the Blink Wired Doorbell 2K+ from your Blink app.
  5. Change your Wi-Fi network name or password back to include spaces or special characters if desired.
  6. If you added a space or special character, open the Blink app and complete the Blink Wired Doorbell 2K+ setup using the new network name or password.
