If your Blink Wired Doorbell 2K+ is offline or if you encounter any issues during setup, proceed with the troubleshooting steps outlined below:
General troubleshooting
Power issues
You might have a power issue if you notice any of the following:
- Your doorbell doesn't power on when connected to a compatible power source, or you see a flashing red light.
- Your doorbell loses power at night or after the button is pressed.
- Certain features can't be toggled on in the Blink app.
- A poor power rating is shown in the Blink app.
Wiring
If your Wired Doorbell 2K+ isn't responding after hardwiring, the mounting plate may not be fully flush against the wall, or the terminal screws may be overtightened. Either issue can prevent the wires from making a proper connection.
To resolve this:
- Verify that the mounting plate is flat and flush against the wall.
- Loosen any overtightened terminal screws and re-secure the wires firmly, but not too tight.
- Double-check each wire is under the correct terminal screw by referring to the hardwiring instructions for your device.
Transformer requirements
Your Wired Doorbell 2K+ requires the following power from your transformer:
- Voltage: 12–24V (US/CA) 8-24V (EU/UK)
- VA rating: 10–40 VA
f your current transformer does not meet these requirements, it will need to be replaced. We recommend consulting a qualified professional for transformer replacement. Note: Using non-approved power sources, can damage your device.
To locate your transformer, turn off power at the circuit breaker first. Transformers are typically small metal boxes found in garages, basements, attics, or closets.

DeleteChime issues
If you're experiencing issues with your chime, try these solutions:
Check compatibility: Verify that your chime is compatible with the Wired Doorbell 2K+. Confirm that all wires are secured under the correct terminal screws.
Chime rings continuously or spontaneously: This is typically caused by a wiring issue. Check that the bypass wire is correctly installed.
Chime buzzes or hums: This usually indicates a power mismatch or a wiring issue. First, verify that your bypass wire is installed correctly. Then, confirm that your transformer's voltage and VA rating meet the requirements for your doorbell and chime. Replace the transformer if necessary. If you're uncomfortable doing this yourself, consult a licensed professional.

Not receiving motion notifications
Two key requirements must be met to receive motion notifications:
- From the Home Screen of your Blink app, verify that the system where your doorbell is added is Armed.
- From the Home Screen of your Blink app, tap the More (...) button on your Wired Doorbell 2K+ thumbnail, and ensure Motion Detection is On.

DeleteReducing excessive motion notifications
If you're getting too many motion notifications:
-
Adjust Sensitivity Settings
To minimize false notifications triggered by blowing leaves, moving shadows, or small animal movements, reduce the sensitivity setting by two points initially. Keep in mind that lower sensitivity requires more significant movement to trigger alerts, allowing you to fine-tune the balance between responsiveness and false motion.
-
Set Up Activity Zones
Customize your monitoring zones. This helps avoid unwanted notifications from busy areas like sidewalks or streets, keeping your notifications relevant to what matters to you.
