Your Blink Doorbell can save motion events and doorbell presses using either cloud storage (with subscription) or local storage (with Sync Module 2 or Sync Module XR). Please note that when using local storage, the automatic Live View feature will prevent saving doorbell press clips locally since Live View recording requires a subscription. By turning this feature off, this will allow the saving of the doorbell press clips, but will stop doorbell press announcements on your Echo devices.
Managing motion clip recordings
Your Blink Doorbell can be customized to reduce motion recordings. To record doorbell presses only, turn off Motion Detection while keeping Video Recording on.
Note: Video Recording does not control motion or doorbell press notifications on your mobile device. You will always receive notifications according the preferences you set in the Blink app.
Your doorbell's Video Recording is on by default. To adjust this setting:
- Tap More (...) on your doorbell thumbnail.
- Select Device Settings.
- Tap Privacy Settings.
- Toggle Video Recording on/off.
Understanding recording setting combinations
- Motion Detection On + Video Recording Off: Records and notifies for all motion events and doorbell presses.
- Motion Detection Off + Video Recording On: Records and notifies for doorbell presses only.
- Motion Detection Off+ Video Recording On: Records motion events and sends notifications for doorbell presses only. Live View remains.
Note: These events will appear in your clip list as non-media events (alerts without video or images).
