Wired Floodlight Camera Troubleshooting

WARNING: Risk of electrical shock. Disconnect power to the installation area at the fuse box or circuit breaker before beginning installation. Always use caution when handling electrical wiring.

My Wired Floodlight Camera is not powering on after installation. What should I do?

The Quick Start Guide describes how to connect each of the black, white, and green / bare-copper ground wires. If your wire colors do not match, or you have a different configuration, consult a professional before continuing the installation. The Blink Wired Floodlight Camera needs a ground wire to operate.

When power is turned on, the camera automatically enters setup mode and waits for you to scan the QR code on the Quick Start Guide, on the back of the camera, or on the back of the mount. If the camera does not show a green solid LED and a flashing blue LED, then check your power supply. Make sure that the correct breaker is turned on and that other devices on the same circuit are functioning properly. Consult a licensed electrician to troubleshoot any wiring issues.

My Wired Floodlight Camera is not showing as a device option when "Adding a Device." What should I do?

If you have any difficulties setting up the camera in the Blink app, be sure that you have the latest version of your mobile device operating system installed with all updates, and you have the latest version of the Blink app.

To add a camera to a Blink system, you can either enter the serial number manually or use your device's camera to scan a QR code. The Serial Number and QR code are on the Quick Start Guide, on the back of the camera, as well as on the back of the mount.

Be sure that your camera is in setup mode by looking for the solid green LED and the flashing blue LED on either side of the camera lens. If you do not see these lights, press and release the button on top of the camera once. If you still do not see the LED light pattern after one minute, press and hold the reset button until you see a red LED flash, then let go.

If you still do not see the LED pattern after a short reset press and a long reset press, and your power supply is working correctly, then please call our Customer Service line.

How do I manually reset my Wired Floodlight Camera if power cycling doesn't resolve my issue?

The camera in the Wired Floodlight Camera has a reset button at the top, which is not visible from the ground when it's mounted. This button can put the camera in setup mode to be added to a new or existing system or to a new Wi-Fi network.

  • Short press (less than 5 seconds) resets it and resolves most setup issues.
  • Long press puts the camera into setup mode. This also erases your Wi-Fi credentials; therefore, you need to enter your network name and password again to reconnect to your Internet.

Why isn't my Wired Floodlight Camera capturing all motion events?

Make sure your system is armed
When you first set up your Blink system, your system is disarmed by default. Learn more about arming your Blink system.

Check your camera's positioning
Be sure your Wired Floodlight Camera is mounted correctly. An arrow on the back label shows which direction the floodlight is to be mounted.

When mounted on a wall or eave (a vertical surface), the arrow points 'up' so the lights are above the camera body.

When mounted on a ceiling or horizontal surface, the arrow points toward the nearest wall. In this way, the camera has a better range of view 'outward' without interference from the LED lights.

The best motion detection occurs with side-to-side motion. Learn more about Positioning the lights and camera on your Wired Floodlight.

Check your camera's Motion Detection Types in camera settings
The Wired Floodlight Camera offers three different options for motion detection and notification. Be sure your camera is set to record and notify you for the events you would like to see.

All Motion
All motion detection recordings are saved in the Clips tab. If notifications are enabled, you receive detection notifications for all motion.

Person Detection
Only People Detection recordings are saved in the Clips tab. If notifications are enabled, you receive only People Detection notifications.

Nothing
No recordings are saved but you will receive notifications of motion.

Why are my floodlights activating when my system is disarmed on my Wired Floodlight Camera?

The Motion Activation floodlight setting allows your floodlights to turn on in the event of motion, even if your system is disarmed. If Motion Activation is disabled, the camera does not record clips or send notifications that motion is present.

When the Motion Activation setting is on and the system is armed, the floodlights activate, the camera records clips, and you receive motion notifications.

To disable the Motion Activation setting, follow these steps:
  1. Select your camera's settings.
  2. Tap Floodlight Settings.
  3. Tap Motion Activation to turn it off.
