Additional requirements
- A valid email address. Note: You will use this email in the event of a password reset, for communication with us regarding any issues, and for receiving time-limited account confirmation codes. Please be sure it is easily accessible.
- A non-cellular 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network (name and password) and high-speed Internet connection (DSL, Cable, Fiber) with a minimum 2 Mbit/sec upload speed. Unfortunately, due to high latency issues, we do not recommend using Blink with Satellite providers.
- Note: Blink products are unable to gain internet access on networks that require authentication through a third-party login website.
- The Sync Module requires a standard electrical outlet to provide power.
- The Sync Module 2 requires a USB drive in order to use local storage.
- The Blink Mini camera requires a standard electrical outlet to provide power.
Current Blink App Versions
The latest version of the Blink app is always available in your app store. Blink supports most smartphones, tablets, and many Alexa-enabled products.
Select the app store link or scan the QR code to download the latest version of the Blink app.

Downloading the app and creating an account
Blink cameras and devices are controlled through our Blink mobile app. After you download the app for your device, you must create a Blink account and then verify your email address.
Blink systems and settings are connected to your Blink account allowing you to either access your Blink account from other mobile devices or share account access with those you trust. Learn more about sharing your account access.
The latest version of the Blink app is always available in your app store. Blink supports most smartphones, tablets, and many Alexa-enabled products.
Select the app store link or scan the QR code to download the latest version of the Blink app.

Create a Blink account
To get started with the Blink app, follow the instructions below:
With Blink, you have one user account with one email and one phone number. On log in and certain other actions, a verification number is sent to the mobile number or email address of the account.
Note: If you want to share your account with other users, learn more about setting up a second phone or device.
- Launch the Blink App and tap Create Account at the bottom of the screen.
- Select your country from the drop-down menu and tap Next.
- Confirm your region and tap OK. Your region is pre-selected based on your IP address.
- Enter a valid email address, and tap Next.
- Create a password and tap Create Account. The password requirements are listed at the bottom of the screen. Tap the eyeball icon if you want to view what you are typing.
- Complete the multi-factor authentication (MFA) process.
Multi-factor authentication steps
Verify your email address
Enter the PIN from the email we sent you and tap Verify.
- PIN codes are valid for 40 minutes.
- If you haven't received the code after 90 seconds, tap Resend PIN Code.
Verify your phone number
Tap the phone number entry line to bring up a keypad.
Enter the phone number you wish to use for device verification and tap Next.
Optional: Select your country code by tapping the flag icon next to the phone number entry line.
If you prefer to not use SMS, the PIN code can be read to you by an automated voice call.
To choose this option, under Receive code by: select Voice call and tap Next.
A SMS text message containing the PIN code is sent to the phone number, and you are shown another PIN entry screen.

Enter the PIN from the SMS text message we sent you and tap Verify.
- PIN codes are valid for 40 minutes.
- If you haven't received the code after 90 seconds, tap Resend PIN Code.
Link your Blink and Amazon accounts
When the phone verification step is complete, you are prompted to link your new Blink account to your Amazon account by tapping Link Accounts. If you don't want to link your account, select Skip to be sent to the Home screen without linking your accounts.
Note: This is an optional step, but we highly recommend linking your accounts at this time. Learn more about the benefits of linking your accounts.
Sign into your existing Amazon account. You will need to know your Amazon login email address and password. Once the link is established between accounts, tap Next.

Manage multiple devices for a Blink account
Use this article to understand how to login and manage your Blink account across multiple mobile devices with the Blink app. To ensure only authorized persons can access your Blink account, the primary account owner can view all additional devices that access their account.
Accessible devices include mobile phones, tablets, as well as apps such as IFTTT and Alexa SmartHome.
Add your account to a different device
A Blink account can be accessed from other mobile devices if the login name and password are shared with those devices. If you want to log in to your Blink account from a different mobile device, follow these steps.
- Download the app from your device's app store and sign in using the same Blink account username and password.
- When you log in for the first time, a SMS verification code will be sent to the phone number of the primary account owner. This verification code must be entered before that device is given access. Learn more about Multi-Factor Authentication.
- Use this same process if you want to grant a trusted person access to your Blink account on their mobile device.

Manage verified mobile devices
The primary account owner has the ability to:
- Manage all other devices on the account
- View all devices that have accessed their Blink account within the last 30 days
- Revoke any device's access to their Blink account if necessary
Once a device has been revoked from an account, the only way that device can regain access is through a multi-factor security process. Learn more about Multi-Factor Authentication. To review the verified mobile devices in your Blink account, follow these steps.
- Tap Settings

- Select Account and Privacy.
- While viewing the Account and Privacy screen, tap on Manage Mobile Devices.
- A SMS message with a verification code is sent to the primary account holder's phone number. Enter the code in the Blink app and tap Verify.
If you don't receive the code
The verification code is sent exclusively to the primary account owner's device. If you do not receive a code, you can either wait 90 seconds when the Resend Code button becomes available, or tap on the back arrow in the top left of the Account Verification screen to return to the main Account and Privacy screen.
Note: If you no longer have access to a device that receives this code, you will need to change the phone number located in Account and Privacy Settings. The account password is required to change the phone number.
5. A successful verification leads to a list of all devices that have accessed that account in the last 30 days, including the current device at the top.
Removing access
Once a device has been revoked from an account, the only way that device can regain access is through a multi-factor authentication process. Learn more about Multi-Factor Authentication.
To remove access from a mobile device, tap Remove next to the device name. This immediately logs that device out of the account.

Trust this device
Logins on new devices, or devices that were removed from an account have a Trust this device option during Account Verification. This allows the app to not require a verification code for future logins.
If the password is changed on an account, the Trust this device option reappears at the next login.
Device limit
The Blink app can be added to a maximum of 100 devices. If there's an attempt to log in to over 100 devices, the account owner will see the screen below.
To resolve, you can either:
- Remove some devices using the previously described method.
- Reset the account password, which will remove all the devices that have access to the account except the device you reset the password on.

Do I need Wi-Fi?
Yes! Wi-Fi is a main component of your Blink system. Blink requires a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi Internet connection with a minimum of 2 Mb per second (2Mbps) upload speed (from your network to the internet).Can I access my Blink system from my computer?
The Blink mobile app contains all camera and system settings, camera scheduling, and clip sharing functions.
Can my Blink account and systems be accessed by family members?
You may also connect Alexa enabled devices through the Blink SmartHome skill. Learn more about Alexa compatibility.
How many devices can I add to a Blink system?
What is the range of the Sync Module? How far away can camera units be placed?
Assuming standard construction techniques (single building, no unusually dense construction materials) the Sync Module should be able to communicate with Blink cameras up to (and perhaps over) 100’ away in any direction. We also recommend keeping the Sync Module near your wireless router for best signal strength. The article describing signal strengths, and how to check them, is here. The goal is to have 'three bars' of signal connectivity at the Sync Module and each camera as depicted on the Sync Module screen in the Blink app.Can I power my cameras with a USB cable or solar panels?
Blink cameras are designed to be powered by size AA 1.5 volt Lithium non-rechargeable batteries, or USB power cable. All cameras ship with their own power supply. The Blink Solar Panel Mount accessory is available at amazon.com (external link to the purchase page).
Some third party manufacturers claim to be compatible with Blink products. Third party power solutions are not supported because of the various problems and safety issues that may arise. Blink accessories are designed be safe for your use.
We cannot warranty devices connected to unreliable power sources, or when weather protection is removed. For the best experience, please only use the power solution that was provided in the original packaging, or authorized Blink products.

What kind of batteries does Blink use? Are they easy to replace?
Blink cameras are powered by size AA 1.5 volt Lithium non-rechargeable batteries. Battery powered cameras ship with batteries, and they’re easy to replace when the time comes. Simply open the battery compartment, take out the old batteries, and insert the new pair. The device powers up and regain communications without input from you.
Blink camera batteries should be replaced by Energizer Ultimate size AA 1.5 volt Lithium non-rechargeable batteries, or their equivalent. These batteries can be purchased here.
Do not use Lithium Ion ( Li-ion ) rechargeable batteries as they may cause issues with your camera.
How long do the batteries last?
The XT, and Indoor (gen 1) battery life is up to two years, based on 40,200 seconds of recording, averaging 50 seconds per day.
- Using Alkaline or re-chargeable batteries. (Specifically NOT recommended)
- Slow internet connection
- Extreme temperatures
- Weak signal strength between camera and Wi-fi
- Weak signal strength between camera and Sync Module
DO NOT use "Lithium Ion" (Li-Ion) batteries as these may cause issues with your camera. Recommended replacement batteries can be purchased here.
How far from the camera can a person be seen?
What's the maximum distance Blink cameras sense motion detection?
Can a Blink camera detect motion through a window or glass?
Mini cameras are somewhat capable of motion detection through glass, since they use pixel difference analysis instead of IR heat signature. This can only work under very limited conditions such as when light is present, with the camera positioned as close as possible to the glass, and with the recording LED and IR LED disabled to reduce reflections. The Blink Mini was not designed to detect motion through glass and the results can be unreliable.
How wide is the field of view?
Do Blink cameras pan and tilt?
For our other cameras, Blink’s included mount will allow you to easily set the positioning of a camera view, but the standard mount is not controlled remotely.

What is the camera resolution for Blink cameras?
Blink cameras can record up to 1080p resolution, except for the Blink Indoor (gen 1) which has a resolution of 720p. The resolution is configurable in camera settings, learn more from our article here.
The camera frame rate ranges from 7.5 frames per second in low light situations to 30 frames per second in good lighting. The decreased frame rate in low light allows the camera to capture more light and present a clearer picture. Check out our article here about configuring your system to capture images in low light.
What is Instant-On?
How long can I set the camera to record for?
When observing Live View on the Blink Mini, you must tap a "Continue" button every 60 seconds. When using Alexa devices for Live View, the length is five minutes.
How much data does a single clip use?
With just five-second motion clips, a 256 GB USB drive will be full after approximately three-hundred and forty thousand (340,000) clips are stored.
Where are motion clips stored?
If your account was created on or before April 15th, 2020, you will continue to have access to free cloud storage and other features for any devices set up on your account. You are allotted 7,200 seconds of recording per Sync Module.

Is there Local Storage?
The Sync Module 2 has an active USB 2.0 port that accepts a USB drive between 1 GB and 256 GB in size, with at least 375 MB of free space available.By default, the USB drive directly records motion clips from Blink Outdoor, Indoor (gen 2), and Mini cameras that are attached to the Sync Module 2 system. These clips are available in the Blink app Clip List. Local Storage does not need to be configured other than to set up the Sync Module 2 with a USB drive and connect one or more of the cameras mentioned. Live Views are never saved to the USB drive.
When Cloud Storage is active either with a subscription or free trial, Live View sessions and Motion Clips from Blink Outdoor, Indoor (gen 2), and Mini cameras are saved to the Cloud. If there is a USB drive available, all unsaved clips will be stored in a Clip Backup once per day.
How much storage do I get for recorded clips?
For older cameras - Blink XT2, XT, and Indoor (gen 1) - Blink provides 7,200 seconds (2 hours) of storage space for the life of the product. The storage space is 'given' to the Sync Module these older cameras are attached to.
Can my system automatically arm/disarm?
For Schedules to work, each camera to be controlled must be enabled for motion detection.
What’s Live View?
With a subscription plan, you can save Live View sessions to cloud storage for later viewing. Blink Subscription Plans also enable Extended Live View - exclusively for Blink Mini cameras! This new feature provides images and sound directly from a Mini to the Blink app, up to 90 minutes at a time without user intervention. In addition, you can view regular Live View sessions up to five minutes without tapping on "Continue". Click here to learn more.

Live Views are never saved to the USB drive.
Can I record when I’m in Live View mode?
If you have a subscription, Live View sessions can be saved to your clip roll.
Do I need to run software updates on my Sync Module and Camera(s)?
Does Blink have Alexa or IFTTT functionality?
- We will be adding support to other regions for these services in the near future.
- Other third party scripts are not compatible with Blink products at this time.
- Alexa Motion Announcements and Clip Viewing/Clip Status are not currently supported on cameras using Local Storage to record directly to a Sync Module 2 with attached USB drive.
Do Blink devices use Bluetooth?
Can a Siren still be added to a Blink System?
Can a single camera exist in multiple systems or accounts?
Cameras must first be deleted before added to different systems within the same account, or to a different account. Click here to learn more about deleting cameras.
Can my battery powered camera operate during a power outage?
Battery powered cameras require a connection to a Sync Module and to Wi-Fi. Blink Outdoor, and Indoor (gen 2) will attempt to record the first motion event after a power loss and upload that clip to the cloud once the system is back online. The 'offline' or power-out recording feature is not reliable however. Power and internet outages are a cause of system problems, please make sure both are always available. Are Blink systems eligible for home insurance discounts?
No. Blink systems are not eligible, since insurance companies only offer discounts on "hard wired surveillance" security systems that trigger an alert to 911 dispatch.

With the Blink Subscription Plus Plan, all Blink devices on the account are covered automatically. If you’re currently subscribed to a Blink Subscription Basic Plan and want your new device covered, you can add another Basic plan for your new device, or upgrade to the Plus Plan to cover all your devices.
DeleteWhat is Rapid video access and how does it affect the way I view video clips?
Rapid video access allows you to instantly watch your videos as soon as they’re recorded. This feature is only available to customers with subscription plans. Videos can be accessed with reduced-loading times from the cloud, compared to clips viewed from local storage.

Your discount becomes available once your free trial ends and your Blink Subscription Plus Plan subscription becomes active. DeleteWhat are the terms to the extended warranty?
For the extended warranty coverage to apply to your Blink device, the device must be within its original warranty period when you subscribe to the Blink Subscription Plus Plan. Once the original warranty expires, the device will be covered under the Blink Subscription Plus Plan until your Plus Plan is cancelled. Non-Blink and other third-party devices are not eligible for the extended warranty.

DeleteHow can I see the remaining days that are in my free trial period?
When you are within your 30-day free trial period, you will see a banner on the home screen of your app that shows the remaining days of your free trial period. Additionally, you will receive an email regarding the remaining days of your free trial, with links to assist you with purchasing a subscription plan. You also have the option to cancel your free trial within the Blink app Account screen.

Blink devices including the Blink Video Doorbell, Blink Mini, Indoor and Outdoor (3rd Gen) cameras are eligible for both the Basic and Plus Plan.
Blink XT, XT2, and legacy Indoor cameras are eligible for the Blink Subscription Plus Plan featuring 30-day unlimited cloud storage.
The Blink Subscription Plus Plan will cover all Blink cameras on your account, including any Blink XT, XT2, and legacy Indoor cameras. Blink Subscription Basic plans only cover a single eligible device.

We are here to help! First make sure you have followed the steps to set up a device in your Blink account. Then ensure you have linked your Amazon and Blink accounts from Account Settings in the Blink Home Monitor app. If you have already completed these steps, contact us.

No. Your Blink products provide their standard features (such as motion alerts, live view, and two-way audio) without any subscription. Blink Subscription Plans offer additional features for those who want them.

Your existing videos will remain available for viewing, downloading, and sharing in the Blink app until they are deleted based on the auto-delete setting subject to the 30 day video storage limit. Learn more about Blink Subscription Plans.
DeleteWhat happens when I add a new Blink device?
With the Blink Subscription Plus Plan, all Blink devices on the account are covered automatically. If you’re currently subscribed to a Blink Subscription Basic Plan and want your new device covered, you can add another Basic plan for your new device, or upgrade to the Plus Plan to cover all your devices.
DeleteWhat is Rapid video access and how does it affect the way I view video clips?
Rapid video access allows you to instantly watch your videos as soon as they’re recorded. This feature is only available to customers with subscription plans. Videos can be accessed with reduced-loading times from the cloud, compared to clips viewed from local storage.
DeleteI am a Blink Subscription Plus Plan subscriber, how do I redeem my 10% discount?
Your discount becomes available once your free trial ends and your Blink Subscription Plus Plan subscription becomes active. Log in to Amazon.co.uk using the account you used to subscribe to the Blink Subscription Plus Plan. Once you have added Blink products to your cart, the discount will be automatically calculated and added during checkout.

Accounts created on or before April 15th, 2020 benefit from 7200s (2 hours) of free cloud storage. If you chose to subscribe a Blink Subscription Plan and later decided to cancel it, you will lose access to unlimited video recording for the devices covered by the plan(s), Extended Live View for your Mini camera, and your devices will revert back to 7200s (2 hours) of free cloud storage.

Yes. Blink Subscription Plus Plans will cover eligible devices at multiple addresses, as long as they're under the same Blink account.
